10,000 World Cup Tickets on Sale via Internet
May 4, 2006Fans desperate to get their hands on tickets for next month's World Cup in Germany have been given a boost with the Organizing Committee (OK) confirming Wednesday that 10,000 tickets would go on sale via the Internet within the next 24 hours.
The returned tickets, including many with obstructed views, are for the opening match between hosts Germany and Costa Rica in Munich on June 9 and the final in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on July 9.
"Constant surfing can have benefits. On Wednesday and Thursday we will put 10,000 tickets up for sale on the Internet," said OK spokesperson Jens Grittner.
The tickets can be purchased on the official World Cup Web site www.FIFAworldcup.com on a 'first come, first served' basis.
Tickets for the opening match range from 35 to 100 euros ($42-$120) while a ticket for the Berlin final costs between 120 and 600 euros.
A total of 3.07 million tickets were available for the month-long finals, starting on June 9 in Munich, with demand oversubscribed by a ratio of 20 to one.
