A suicide attack in July killed 19 members of the Hindu and Sikh community in Afghanistan. Among the dead was Avtar Singh Khalsa, the Sikh minority's sole candidate for the October 20 parliamentary election. Undeterred by his father's death, Singh's son will run in his place.
