At only 25, Philipp Amthor is the youngest directly elected representative in the German parliament. He won his district for the first time as a candidate for the conservative CDU party, but he might have to campaign again very soon. The talks surrounding the so-called ‘Jamaica coalition’ made up of the CDU/CSU, FDP and Green parties have broken down. Now, there could be new snap elections, of which Philipp Amthor takes a dim view. He supports a minority government with Angela Merkel as chancellor. Such a government has never occurred since the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany. Members of parliament are quarreling over the pros and cons of such a model, about alternatives and who is to blame for this mess. Philipp Amthor wants a quick solution.
