A New Beginning? - A report from Athens

The troika comprising the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank had granted financial assistance to Greece on the condition that the country would privatize state-owned enterprises such as the port of Piraeus.

The new Athens government put these plans on ice immediately following the election. Now, two weeks later, it’s been announced that the privatization authority will continue its work.
