Community kitchens are transforming the lives of the elderly in Chandanki, a village in Gujarat suffering from depopulation. Many of its younger residents have moved away to the cities. 
Led by village head Poonam Patel, Chandanki has also embraced sustainable living, which has lowered costs, improved agricultural productivity, and even helped wildlife return. Solar power and soak pits are among the measures that have been implemented. 
The village's innovative model shows how community support, renewable energy, and rural development can combine to build a greener and happier future for India's rural populations.
