A heatwave in Saudi Arabia has led to the deaths of more than 1,000 people in the city of Mecca, during the annual Hajj pilgrimage. At least 2,000 were hospitalized as temperatures rose above 50 degrees Celsius. What are the lessons that can be drawn from the tragedy? Prof. Samer Bagaeen speaks to DW.
