Across Europe politicians have breathed a sigh of relief. EU commission president Jose Manuel Barroso said the Irish's support for Lisbon was a sign of confidence in the European Union. Lisbon may not have cleared the final hurdle yet, but a NO today would have thrown the EU reform project into crisis - so there was plenty of reasons for Eurocrats to celebrate.
