Activists Welcome China's Climate Change Plans

The Chinese President Hu Jintao’s promise to put a "notable brake" on the country’s rapidly rising carbon emissions has sparked cautious optimism among environmental activists. Some have welcomed it outright, calling it a step forward, while others remain sceptic as the Chinese leader did not give any specific details. China and the US account for about 40 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.
