Audi has collected some experience with hybrid electric cars. Later this year, the car maker will be putting its first all-electric sports car into production.

Audi's first fully electric mass-production vehicle is to be the R8 e-tron. The sports car was put to the test on the Nürburgring's Northern Loop track and passed with flying colors - and a lap record for electric cars. With Markus Winkelhock at the wheel, the Audi R8 e-tron took the curves quietly and calmly. This test version was identical to the upcoming production models in nearly every detail. Its electric motors deliver 280 kW of power 820 Newtonmeters of torque.
