Afghanistan Debate Heats Up

With a confidential report by US commander General Stanley McChrystal leaked to the press, the debate about Afghanistan is heating up. McChrystal reportedly put in a request for more foreign troops, warning that the war in Afghanistan might otherwise be lost within the next year. In an appearance on "The Late Show" with David Letterman on CBS Monday, President Obama acknowledged that the US was "weary of the war". Democratic Party heavyweights such as Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, want to shift the focus to training the Afghan army.
