Afghanistan votes amid terror threats

Afghanistan is holding presidential elections, in the country’s first ever democratic transfer of power. Voters defied threats of violence by the Taliban, with some polling stations running out of ballots due to the high turnout. The election will decide who replaces Hamid Karzai, who has led the country for the last 12 years.
