The G8 summit is always important, because these countries are all important players in the world economy. However, I am bit skeptical about how much power it really has. That is because the growth and strengthening of developing countries has required a process of change and adjustment. So it is good that Germany has made the world economy a significant issue during its G8 presidency.

The integration of new powers from Asia into the global economic system, bringing Russia into Europe and the development of new aid for the third world: the G8 countries have not prepared well for this.
