Almond Skins for the Immune System

Do you eat blanched almonds? What a waste of a good almond skin! The covering of the kernel can help fend off viruses.

Scientists in Italy and Britain have found that components in the skin of almonds boost the immune system’s response to viral infections such as the common cold and flu. More research is needed to find out how many almonds have to be consumed for a beneficial effect. But it is likely that eating almonds regularly helps prevent infection and may help those already infected to fight off their illness.
