German chancellor Angela Merkel is currently making an unannounced visit to Afghanistan. On her first official trip to the country, Merkel has been meeting with Afghan president Hamid Karzai in Kabul. During that meeting she reportedly said she would seek to intensify Germany's involvement in training Afghan police.
