The killing of Osama Bin Laden in May, 2011, was a global news sensation. But a TV station in Taiwan just couldn’t live with the lack of picture material for the top-secret military operation. So it simply made its own animated version.

For three years now, NextMedia of Taipeh has been making computer animations for news reports. A motion capture process - a high-tech version of pixilation - uses re-enactments of events for which there are no other pictures. It had a humorous take on the sex scandal that hit the hapless Tiger Woods as well as the debt crisis that is still hitting Greece. The whimsical videos have been viewed millions of times on the net.
