Berlin video artist James Cui helped develop the Smartphone app "EDMT". One of its functions is to access the phone’s camera and microphone to connect visual and auditory effects, which in turn generates new graphics and sounds. The app is one of a great many new applications for Smartphones and tablet computers that have been awarded honors as works of art by the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe. The center has been awarding the AppArt award each year since 2011.
