In the Washington Agreement of 1998, Germany agreed to comb its museum inventories for any art that the Nazis looted from occupied countries. As the tenth anniversary of the restitution agreement approaches, we ask what has changed in the museums in that time? In Dresden, at the State Art Collections, a team of 60 historians has been investigating the origin of every item. ARTS.21 reports on the new pragmatism toward looted art.
