Asylum Seekers from Southeastern Europe

Around 65,000 people applied for political asylum in Germany in 2012. About a third of them came from southeastern Europe. Since visa requirements were eliminated for countries of the former Yugoslavia, many Sinti und Roma have made their way to Germany to apply for asylum. They face discrimination in their homeland and hoping for a better life.
