International agriculture experts say at least 72 million euros in urgent humanitarian aid is needed to tackle the famine in the Horn of Africa. The call came at a special conference organised by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization. The worst drought in sixty years has put millions of people at risk of starvation, a situation the FAO says is "unacceptable". A lack of funding is putting relief efforts at risk and long-term aid is needed for farmers to "break the cycle" of hunger.
