Schalke have signed Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman on a season-long loan, reuniting the youngster with head coach Markus Weinzierl who worked with him at Augsburg.

The 22-year-old completed a medical on Sunday evening and is already training with his new teammates in their pre-season training camp in Austria.

Rahman has endured a difficult spell at Chelsea, where he was unable to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta as the first choice left-back at Stamford Bridge, making 23 appearances in all competitions.

The Ghanaian joined Chelsea from Augsburg last summer, but new Chelsea coach Antonio Conte deemed him surplus to requirment.
