The aroma of freshly baked pastries often brings back memories from the past. For Marcel Proust, it was madeleines that set his imagination running. For Georg Matthes, it's the smell of Rohlíky – croissants from the Czech Republic.

In the multimedia series "Baking Bread", EU correspondent Georg Matthes bakes 28 loaves from 28 EU countries and spices his baking instructions with typical anecdotes about each country.
