The Thai government has rejected an offer by protesters to open UN-supervised talks and has vowed to continue its crackdown, calling on the leaders of the protest movement to surrender. Thai emergency services report at least 37 people have been killed since fighting broke out last week, when security forces sealed off Bangkok's commercial district, which remains occupied by the demonstrators.
