A fire at a garment factory in Dhaka recently killed 16 workers and injured many more. Without enforcement and accountability, this is the human cost of fast fashion.

Bangladesh is the world's second-largest exporter of garments.

But the industry faces major challenges: low wages and poor working conditions.

Many factories also lack mandatory fire-safety certificates.

Over the past five years, Bangladesh has seen more than 1,500 fires in garment factoriesaccording to local fire service data.
