On average 183 billion spam emails are sent each day. Eliminating them spells wasted time and aggravation, and they have an economic cost - totaling about ten billion euros a year. Organizations such as Spamhaus Project aim to identify the troublesome mails in advance and filter them out before they reach users' mailboxes.
