Alexander Hartl is the only person who lives permanently on Lake Starnberg in Bavaria. Open to visitors since 2003, it features a rose garden designed by Peter Josef Lenné, botanical rarities and a guest house. A ferry takes visitors from the west side of the lake to the island from May to October.
