"Berlin, Berlin" Snags International Emmy

November 23, 2004

German broadcaster ARD's series "Berlin, Berlin" won the award for best comedy at the International Emmy Awards, hosted in New York on Monday. "It's incredible, even Germans have a sense of humor," the series' producer Holger Ellermann joked during his acceptance speech. The series tracks the trials and tribulations of main character Lolle as she makes her way in the big city, and includes cartoon elements similar to those used in the hit German film "Run Lola Run." The series' star, Felicitas Woll, was unable to go to New York as filming for the fourth and likely final season of "Berlin, Berlin" is currently underway. The International Emmys honor non-US television shows.
