We start with the celebration of a key, strategic alliance between Europe's two economic greats. France and Germany have been friends for 50 years because of the Elysée Treaty. Even though, that friendship HAS been tough at times. And THAT, after centuries of conflict that culminated in two world wars. Speaking at a joint news conference in Berlin.. French president, Francois Hollande, and German chancellor, Angela Merkel, vowed to bridge their differences on how to solve their current war against debt. They've promised to unveil joint proposals on deeper integration in the coming months. It's a big step forward, after Hollande came to power.. pledging to reverse the very measures Merkel had championed. We have this report.
