A 21-year-old man suspected of carrying out a deadly attack near Berlin’s Christopher Street Day celebrations was shot dead by police a day later, authorities said. The suspect allegedly drove a minivan into pedestrians in Tiergarten Park near the Brandenburg Gate, killing one person and injuring 29 others. German officials described the incident as Islamist terror.  The attack struck near one of Europe’s largest LGBTQ Pride events, reigniting debate over public security and extremist violence in Germany.
