The restoration of the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden took four years more than originally planned. Although the actual opening of the concert hall is planned for December 7, the reopening is celebrated with a "Prelude" from September 30 to October 8.

The opening event is a live concert conducted by Daniel Barenboim on September 30 at 5 p.m. on the Bebelplatz. Admission is free.

Along with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, other performances from the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Staatsoper choir will follow, including the premiere of "Scenes from  Goethe's Faust" on October 3.

This concert and other events will be broadcast live on Bebelplatz in Berlin.
