The accident happened in the Swiss canton of Graubünden near the resort of Laax on Friday.

The un-named 77-year-old woman from Berlin had taken a short cut through the fenced-off area between a mountain restaurant and a cable-car station. There was reportedly a sign warning people not to go too close to the cows in the meadow.

Unfortunately, she did go near to the cows who were apparently trying to protect their calves as they attacked her.

A cyclist witnessed the incident and alerted emergency services. A doctor was called, but the woman died at the scene.
