Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno has confirmed he will not exercise a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave the club this summer for a minimum fee.

The 24-year-old was rumored to have been considering a move away from the Bundesliga side and using the clause in his contract to leave for a fee of 15 million euros ($17. 2 million) before April 30, yet the player has chosen to remain in Leverkusen this summer.

“I am very pleased to continue to be part of this talented and hungry team,” said Leno on the Leverkusen website. “Now I can give everything for a successful season finale and my dream of being at the European Championship in France.”

The shot-stopper has recently been linked with RB Leipzig, Liverpool and Real Madrid and did little to appease Leverkusen fans' concerns when he confirmed he wouldn't discuss the contents of his contract earlier this month.

Despite a shaky start to the season, Leno has become an integral part of Roger Schmidt's side as they confirmed third spot in the Bundesliga and Champions League football for next season.
