Billions Pledged for Pakistan

17/04/09April 17, 2009

International donors pledged more than five billion US dollars in economic aid to Pakistan on Friday. The announcement was made at a day-long conference in Tokyo that was headed by the United States and Japan. The donors said that the money, which will be given over two years, would help stabilise the South Asian nation’s troubled economy and fight Islamist militancy.
