Biological Diversity - The Primeval Forest of Białowieza

Bialowieza is Europe's last primeval forest. Located in eastern Poland, this national park is home to many endangered species - like the European bison.

The Białowieza Forest has been in existence for over 10-thousand years yet remains virtually unspoiled. This led UNESCO to declare it a World Natural Heritage Site in 1979.
