Bitcoin: the digital currency

Since the outbreak of the financial crisis, people's faith in banks and stock markets has suffered massively. On the internet, a movement has been formed that would change the system radically, promoting a decentralized digital currency.

The Bitcoin project was developed by international programmers: extremely complicated cryptographic algorithms create a decentralized online currency. It's supposed to be trustworthy and forgery-proof, and bypass government controls. More and more politicians and companies such the US internet giant Google support the alternative currency. But banks and trade associations are worried about the project.
