The future looks bright for those lucky enough to get a place on carmaker BMW's on-the-job training programme. Almost all of the company's apprentices are hired after completing their training. During their apprenticeship, trainees work in a "mini company" under real-life conditions, taking responsibility for every aspect of the carmaking process. Currently BMW is training some 4,400 young people around the globe in 22 different professions. Most of the training is done in Germany. We visit the BMW factory in Munich to see how the automaker is training its own future employees in an attempt to offset the effects of Germany's growing lack of skilled personnel.
