Protesters are seeking to free the far-right ex-president from charges of plotting to topple the government and undermine democracy. Some also waved pro-Trump banners as the US admitted to hitting Brazil with 50% tariffs over Bolsonaro's prosecution.

Supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro filled Copacabana Beach, demanding amnesty as he faces trial for allegedly plotting a coup after the 2022 election. Bolsonaro, under partial house arrest, denies wrongdoing. His son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, urged for broad amnesty. US President Donald Trump condemned the trial as a "witch hunt," imposing 50% tariffs on Brazil and sanctioning Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Pro-government Brazilians protested Trump's interference, defending national sovereignty.
