2 Million motorised vehicles change hands every year in the German port of Bremerhaven. Each year, 1.2 million vehicles alone are shipped abroad in massive containers. Amongst them are cars made by Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz and heavy machinery including diggers and other equipment. The employees of transport company BLG Logistics have a huge job on their hands. The massive freight ships usually access the harbor via two sluice gates. But one of them is currently closed for modernisation work. For the next two years, the harbor will have to make do with a single sluice gate. That means the smallest mishap could bring exports to a standstill. Carmen Meyer reports.
