British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has ordered his country's treasury to step efforts to combat tax evaders. The comment came after the UK joined Germany in investigating bank accounts in Liechtenstein. The tax authority paid an informant for data regarding British citizens with accounts in the tiny principality. Meanwhile, the Liechtenstein bank at the center of the tax evasion row with Germany said it will sue the person it suspects of selling confidential information to German intelligence.
