In Burma, three people were reported killed Wednesday when security forces fired live ammunition to stop mass protests in central Rangoon. Hospital and monastery officials told the Reuters news agency that two monks and a civilian died in the violence. Witnesses said tens of thousands of people took to the streets, some of them forming human chains to shield the monks leading the protests.
