Destroyed homes, columns of smoke, fleeing people: Looking at pictures like these of the war in Iraq, it is easy to forget that a peaceful everyday life once existed. One last remnant of that was Mosul zoo - now the animals have been evacuated to safety. The situation for thousands of people remains critical, however.
