Cameroon mosque suicide attack kills 12
January 13, 2016 On Wednesday, security forces in Cameroon reported that 12 people had been killed after a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a mosque.
"The suicide bomber was praying with the others," a source told the AFP news agency.
Eleven people were killed at the scene, while a twelfth succumbed shortly after to injuries sustained in the blast.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but suspicion is likely to fall on Boko Haram. The group is based in Nigeria, and Kouyape is a border town in a region that has seen other instances of Boko Haram violence.
Cameroon is one of a number of African nations joining Nigeria's fight against Boko Haram. It has carried out a number of raids against the Islamist group in the border region with Nigeria.
