Can animals count?

Reports about animals with special talents are nothing new. But can animals count, or even do sums? Cato the dog and his owner Florin, a comedian, perform math tricks on stage.

Florin is convinced that Cato can count. But is it real talent or just a trick? That's also a question being investigated by researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. They want to know whether animals really can crunch numbers. We take a look at their findings.
