What we know about the Leipzig car ramming

Police say a car has hit pedestrians in central Leipzig in eastern Germany. Authorities have confirmed two deaths so far, but say details are still emerging.

Media reports say the driver was travelling at high speed through a pedestrian zone. Authorities have not yet released further details.

Germany has seen a number of similar incidents in recent years. DW political correspondent Simon Young has the latest.
