A series of rapes involving young children has shocked Cameroon and sparked widespread public outrage. DW correspondent Blaise Eyong reports from Buea.

Public anger is growing in Cameroon over a series of child rape cases that have highlighted barriers to justice for survivors.

In Buea and Mudeka, families say poverty, intimidation and the cost of medical care make it difficult to pursue cases. Residents accuse perpetrators of acting with impunity, while officials acknowledge that victims, relatives and even social workers can face threats.

The arrest of one suspect has done little to ease fears about corruption and accountability.
