Amid mounting scrutiny from French and EU authorities, Chinese fast-fashion giant Shein has opened its first permanent store in Paris, inside the iconic BHV Marais.

The opening of Shein'sstore in Paris sparked protests over the company’s alleged sale of childlike sex dolls and broader concerns about labor practices, product safety, and environmental impact.

French Finance Minister Roland Lescure has warned of a potential nationwide ban if Shein fails to comply with regulations. Meanwhile, the EU is tightening oversight of Chinese e-commerce platforms like Temu, AliExpress, and Wish under the Digital Services Act, as billions of low-cost parcels continue to flood into Europe from Asia.
