Classic car: Mercedes 280 SL Pagoda

At the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes presented its new generation SL, known internally as W113. It was to replace the legendary 300 SL and the 190 SL. The concave roof earned the car its nickname 'Pagoda'.

We take a look at the 280 SL, the model that came out in 1967. Its engine produced 170 horsepower and broke the magic 200-kilometer-an-hour barrier. The Pagoda was a big hit, especially in the United States, where more than half the production was sold.
