Clinton Kicks Off Asia-Pacific Tour

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Hawaii on Tuesday to begin her fourth tour of the Asia-Pacific region since taking office a year ago.

Her trip, which will also take her to Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, is yet another attempt by Washington to step up its engagement in the region.

Clinton is meeting her Japanese counterpart Katsuya Okada in Hawaii -- a meeting she hopes will "reaffirm the centrality of the US-Japan 50-year-old alliance".
