Cold weather, Russian attacks force Ukrainians to evacuate

Thousands of families living close to the front line in Ukraine face freezing temperatures, failing power supplies and the constant threat of attack. Aid workers are trying to persuade people to leave before it's too late.

Russian attacks and harsh winter weather are pushing front-line communities in eastern Ukraine to the brink.

Humanitarian workers are racing to evacuate residents as drones strike roads, and homes lose heat and water. Some people choose to flee, while others refuse to leave family graves or animals behind — even as the fighting moves ever closer.
