On Sunday, leaders from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean will meet in Colombia to discuss US strikes on alleged drug-smuggling boats and tighter cooperation to combat what officials call the EU's "cocaine crisis."

The US military has killed dozens of people in recent airstrikes against alleged drug-smuggling boats in the Atlantic and Pacific.

The Trump administration has labeled it a war against narcoterrorists to curtail the flow of drugs into the United States.

The strikes will be among the issues discussed by the leaders of the European Union and 33 countries from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States at a meeting in Colombia on Sunday.

The leaders are also expected to talk about what authorities call the "cocaine crisis" in Europe.
