President Gustavo Petro's "Total Peace Initiative" aims to negotiate with all militant groups in Colombia. The National Bolivarian Army Coordinating Committee has now given up large swathes of military equipment.

Colombia's peace process has taken a major step forward after the CNEB guerrilla group destroyed 14 tons of weapons, including mortar heads and explosives.

Once funded by drug trafficking, the group now calls for an end to decades of conflict.

Leaders stress that challenges remain, citing opposition forces, but negotiations continue after four years of mixed progress.

The government pledges to pursue "total peace" despite obstacles.
